frequently asked questions
Can we bring our own drinks and snacks on the trolley?
Yes! Both public and private Holiday Lights Tours allow guests to BYOB and bring personal snacks. Alcoholic beverages are permitted for guests 21+ with valid ID, and non-alcoholic options are welcome. We recommend cans or plastic containers (no glass bottles if possible) and snacks that are easy to eat while riding.
Are the tours family-friendly?
Our private Holiday Lights Tours are open to guests of all ages, making them great for families and mixed groups.
Public tour options are typically 21+, unless otherwise noted. We encourage guests to review their specific tour listing for age requirements before booking.
Do the tours run in bad weather?
Yes—our holiday tours run rain, shine, or snow, and the trolley is fully enclosed and heated. If guests choose not to attend due to weather, no refunds or rescheduling are offered. The only exception would be extreme weather or road closures that force us to cancel; in that case, guests will be notified by email.
Where do tours depart from, and when should we arrive?
All Holiday Lights Tours depart from Donut Distillery in East Nashville. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before departure to check in, use the restrooms, pick up snacks or drinks, and prepare to board. The trolley will leave on schedule, and late arrivals cannot be accommodated.
Is alcohol served on the tour?
No drinks are provided onboard, but we encourage guests to bring their own beer, wine, seltzers, or festive holiday beverages (21+). Donut Distillery and local partner stops may also offer beverages to purchase before boarding or during designated tour stops.
What should we expect during the tour?
Expect a festive evening with holiday lights viewing, a scheduled stop at a themed holiday pop-up (e.g., Home Alone), a photo op at the Downtown Christmas tree, Christmas music (or connect your own playlist via Bluetooth on private tours), and a special holiday gift from Music City Brew Hop. The vibe is fun, cozy, and full of seasonal cheer!
useful tips and tricks
Holiday Lights Tour – Useful Tips
-
Bring small coolers or bags – Drinks and snacks are welcome, but choose containers that fit easily under your seat or in the trolley aisle. Avoid glass bottles if possible.
-
Dress warmly and festively – Even though the trolley is heated, evenings in December can get chilly when boarding or stepping off for photos. Scarves, hats, and holiday sweaters are encouraged!
-
Arrive early – Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to check in, get settled, and enjoy any pre-tour activities (especially for Private Tours at Donut Distillery).
-
Pack a camera or phone for photos – You’ll stop at the Downtown Christmas tree and other photo-worthy spots. A tripod or selfie stick can help capture the moment.
-
Plan your playlist (Private Tours only) – You can connect your device via Bluetooth and play your own festive music. Public tours will use our curated holiday playlist.
-
Keep safety in mind – Please remain seated while the trolley is moving. For families with kids, ensure little ones stay safely seated at all times.
-
Consider group coordination – For Private Tours, make a plan for who will bring drinks, snacks, or camera gear to avoid last-minute scrambling.
